Youth Village

EECAAC Youth Community Dialogue Space

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to present for your attention the youth community dialogue space, the “Youth Village”, which is going to be organized at the 2nd Eastern European and Central Asian AIDS (3-5 May 2008, Moscow, Russia).

The space of the Youth Village will be specially established to increase visibility of HIV issues in relation to young people and to promote youth involvement in addressing HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The Youth Village will provide youth friendly settings within the conference for young people to learn, network, get involved and establish Youth-Adult partnerships.

To ensure wider representation of young people at the entire Conference, and not only at the Youth Village, the EECAAC Youth Community Dialogue Space is going to be launched, with UNFPA being the lead agency on this issue.

Youth Village Activities:

  • Daily orientation and summary sessions for young people in the beginning and in the end of the day agenda.
  • Interactive show with participation of Aleksey Vorobyov, Y-PEER Good Will Ambassador;
  • “Youth zone” where young people can present their initiatives, network, establish partnerships with key stakeholders, increase capacities through participating and conducting workshops.
  • Cultural events, including exhibitions, performances addressing HIV issue, meetings with celebrities, youth mass actions, photo contest, video demonstrations, etc.
  • Daily newsletter that reflects conference through eyes of young people
  • Preparing and introducing the “youth declaration” or “youth position paper” as one of the outcomes of the conference.

Should you have any questions or suggestions regarding the Youth Village Activities please contact UNFPA Office in the Russian Federation.

The Youth Committee is open for your ideas!
